gemstone shape refers to the outline or form of the gem. I have noticed that
the shape of a gem is usually confused with the cut. Shape and cut are not the
same. Gemstone cut is the faceting. Do note that diamonds are included in the
list of gemstones. Therefore, gemstone shapes are also for diamonds. Just like
profiles, shapes can be combined. For instance, if you want three stones on
your engagement ring, the centre stone could be a heart shape while the other
two placed on either side could both be oval shape.
