I
just learnt something new and I thought it would be nice to share with you. I
used to think wedding cakes were in two basic shapes – round and square until I
discovered other shapes in which your cakes can come out.
- ROUND – the most traditional cake shape; grandma will probably suggest you pick this shape because that was what she picked for her own wedding over five decades ago. When you think wedding cakes, you are likely to think ‘round’.

- SQUARE – this gives a more modern look. If you are a modern bride and do not belong to the medieval times like grandma (no offence), a square shape is elegant!

- PETAL – as the name implies, it has a flowerlike appearance. If you are having an outdoor garden event, this will be just perfect for you. It is also referred to as scalloped

- HEXAGONAL – this is a unique shape. A wedding couple that prefers a break from the square shape can pick this six-sided shape. It’s simply gorgeous!

- TOPSY-TURVY – this is my favourite. Each tier is slanted, a different shape or size giving it a dramatic look. This shape is for the daring couple who wants something unusual. With this shape, you can boldly tell grandma times are changing!
