How to Choose a Man's Wedding Ring

Beautiful wedding rings are not only for women; men now wear exquisite wedding rings not only as a sign of commitment to their wives but also as everyday jewellery. Though men’s rings aren’t as elaborate as women’s rings, you could still pick a ring that defines the man’s personality and lifestyle.
Here are a few tips to help you choose a perfect wedding ring, whether you are buying the gift as a surprise or you are going to the jeweler with your man.
  • METAL – popular wedding ring metals include platinum, gold, silver, tungsten and titanium. Yellow gold and platinum are popular metals used for wedding rings. White gold is a best bet if you are shopping on a budget. Depending on the man’s lifestyle, strong metals like titanium and tungsten are ideal while soft metals like gold and platinum may be preferable.
  • GEMSTONE – it’s said that diamond is a girl’s friend; however, diamonds are also good on men. If you cannot afford to choose a diamond due to your pocket, check out other affordable gems. A stone that corresponds to his birth month would be a great idea. When choosing a stone setting, do not forget the man’s daily activity. A style that’s appropriate for a man who’s an office executive might not be for a plumber. A wedding ring is jewellery he would have with him for a lifetime after the wedding day. Bezel or flush set rings are good for men because the gemstone is protected from hard knocks, scratches and chipping. Also, pick a gemstone shape that compliments his finger. For instance, a marquise shape makes a finger seem longer. Definitely, it would be perfect for men whose fingers don’t seem long.
  •  SIZE – your jeweler would have a size chart; be sure to pick the right size. A snagging ring won’t make a lifelong gift. However, if you are buying the ring as a surprise, you can use any of his other rings to know his size or ask from his close friend or family.
  • BUDGET – you can spend as much as you can afford but I would advise you to go for quality since a ring is a lifelong gift. Endeavor to spend a little but don’t go overboard. Colored gemstones are desirable if diamonds don’t fit in your budget.
Engraving your wedding rings adds a touch of personalization or customization. Your initials, wedding date or favorite names can be engraved on the rings. And if you plan on turning the ring into an heirloom, definitely, you two would be remembered forever in your family history.
