Wedding Dress 101

Wedding bells! Wedding bells! Wedding bells! Hi dear, congrats on your upcoming ceremony. Have you started scouting around for your dress? I stand to be corrected though, when ladies talk weddings, the first thing that comes to mind is the dress! Apart from other things that will catch the eye of the guests at a wedding, especially the women folk, what the bride is wearing is of paramount importance. As the bride, you aren't permitted to look drab or slovenly just because you have a tight budget. You want to wow your guests and your brand new husband with the way you look.

You may be asking already, how do i look stunning on my Big day? Anyway, it's quite simpler than you thought and easy too. There are a lot of rules when it comes to wedding dresses but you can ditch a few rules and still look beautiful. Who says you have to wear the gloves or use the veil? Must your gown be the 'keep-the environment-clean' style? Who says your gown has to be white? Okay, before you crucify me on that point, the most important thing is staying happy, not necessarily following some traditional rules. Just know what you want and choose what best flatters your body type.
There are different elements that constitute a wedding gown – silhouette, neckline, gown length, waistline, train, sleeve length and sleeve style. Keep in mind there are different fabrics for different seasons. Some fabrics are even preferable for some particular designs to the other. Have you forgotten the accessories that would accompany your dress – the veil, tiara, shoes, necklace, earrings and gloves? Also, consider your body figure. You can’t just pick up a gown because it looks good on the model in the shop. Most models on display are slim and you wonder if there are designs for the plus-sized bride. Whether you have a full figure, small bust, full bust, thick waist or short waist, you can still be dazzling. Consequently, shopping for your dress and accessories can be cumbersome if you do not have enough information handy. Don’t forget, you still have your maids to shop for. You may want a bespoke design or an already designed gown, you still need adequate information. For instance, if you want to order your gown on a website, it will require you to fill in your measurements.
In my next blog, I will give you a gist on what you need to know before hitting the stores to shop for your wedding dress. Till then, never forget, you have a right to a stress free wedding day! Cheers
